N&Q: Two prominent family office appointments

Soros’ family office hires new CIO

Soros Fund Management, the family office of George Soros and his family, has hired Dawn Fitzpatrick as its new chief investment officer, according to reports. Fitzpatrick joins from UBS, where she headed a hedge fund and multi-asset investment group in the Swiss bank’s asset management division. Let’s hope Fitzpatrick stays a bit longer than previous CIOs at the hedge fund turned family office. Since 2000, there have been six CIOs at SFM, with the last one, Ted Burdick, stepping down from the position within a few months of his appointment in late 2015.

Premji Invest hires new CIO, managing partners

TK Kurien has been appointed as managing partner and CIO of Azim Premji’s family office, Premji Invest. Kurien was a former CEO and vice chairman of Wipro, Premji’s family business. “TK with his decades of experience in running startups and established enterprises and deep financial acumen is best positioned to take Premji Invest to the next level,” Premji told the Indian media. With an estimated $2 billion under management, Premji Invest is among India’s best-known family offices.
