A team of prominent family business advisors is joining PWC from EY in a move that underlines the growing importance of the family business sector to the big four professional services groups.

Peter Englisch, the global leader of EY’s family business center of excellence, along with Andrea Baar, EY’s nextgen program leader, Francesca Ambrosini, EY’s global brand, marketing and communication family business leader, and Johannes Rettig, EY’s global business development family business, are all understood to be joining PWC in the course of the next six months, according to sources close to the professional services group.

Meanwhile, EY has announced the appointment of Marnix van Rij as its new global family business leader. Van Rij was previously head of EY’s personal tax services group. He will be joined by Helena Robertsson, who will head up the family business group for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Robertsson was previously head of the family business group for the Nordic region for EY.

All the big four have increased their resources in the family business sector in recent years. Deloitte acquired the family advisory group Peter Leach & Partners in 2014, and KPMG hired prominent family business advisory, Ken McCracken, last year.
