This week’s family/private investment office deals

Unspecified Rounds

Russell Westbrook Enterprises, an investment group owned by the eponymous prominent basketball player (see profile), has invested in Varo Money, a fintech group. Russell Westbrook Enterprises committed $63 million to the San Francisco-based group.  

Helios Capital, a New York City-based investment group owned by Ryan Alexander Kriser, has invested in Allocations, a fintech group. Helios was one of four investors committing $1 million to the San Francisco-based group. 

UK tennis star Andy Murray, possibly through his investment and management group 77 Management, has invested in GoodBox, a fundraising-focused group, primarily serving charities and the non-profit sectors. Murray committed £9 million to the UK-based group. 

RAB Capital, a former hedge fund and now investing in companies directly and owned by UK financier Michael Alen-Buckley, has invested in Power Roll, an energy group. RAB Capital was one of five investors committing £3 million to the UK-based group. 

Seed

Peter Thiel, possibly through his investment group Thiel Capital, has invested in Voices, a monetization platform. Thiel joined eight other investors seeded the Los Angeles-based startup with $2 million. 

Esther Dyson, possibly through her investment group, EDventure Holdings, has invested in Koffie Labs, a fintech startup. Dyson was one of six investors committing $3 million to the Brooklyn-based startup. 

Series A

Bronze Investments, an investment group owned by Stephen DeBerry (see profile), has invested in Promise, a payment processing platform. Bronze was one of five investors committing $20 million to the Oakland, California-based group. 

CapStone Holdings, a family office owned by entrepreneur Keith Stone, has invested in Perrone Robotics. CapStone committed $10 million to the Virginia-based group. 

Series B 

Vulcan Capital, the Seattle-based investment group owned by Jody Allen, has invested in Emotive, a texting platform for e-commerce brands. Vulcan was one of five investors committing $50 million to the Los Angeles-based group. 

Series C

A group of family offices, including DNS Capital, the investment office of Gigi Pritzker and Michael Pucker, Wasson Enterprise, the investment office of the Wasson family, Wittington Ventures, owned by the Canadian Weston family, 7wire ventures, owned by biotech investor Glen Tullman, have invested in Truvian, a biotech group. Altogether seven investors came together to invest $105 million in the San Diego-based group. 

Invus, a New York City-based investment business backed by Eric Wittouck, one of Belgium’s richest individuals, has invested in Evox Therapeutics, a biotech group. Invus joined six other investors committing £69.2 million to the Oxford, UK-based group. 

Series E 

Península Participações, an investment office owned by Brazilian billionaire Abilio Diniz, together with Valor Capital Group, an investment group owned by Clifford Sobel, a former US ambassador to Brazil, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, have invested in Descomplica, an online educational platform. The three investors joined five others with a commitment of Real$450 million for the Rio de Janeiro-based group.
