Family office opens in London, hires big guns

A new family office has opened in London’s West End and has hired a number of senior directors, all specialists in the wealth and investment sectors.

Called Sackville Capital, the family office commenced operations mid last year and has since gone on a hiring spree.

Hires include Jonathan Bell, chief investment officer of Stanhope Capital, the London-based multi-family office – Bell joins in a non-executive capacity – and Michael Covell, who is chairman of the new group. Covell is a seasoned wealth management specialist, having in the past headed up Goldman Sachs’ wealth management division in Europe. Bell has worked at Stanhope since 2005 and is on the executive committee of the wealth manager.

Also joined as a director is Savio Tung. New York City-based Tung was previously chief investment officer of Investcorp, the private equity group, headquartered in Bahrain and with offices around the world. Tung says on his LinkedIn profile he was the former CIO of Investcorp.

All three directors are likely helping Sackville on a part-time basis.

The beneficial owner of Sackville isn’t known – it is registered through a lawyer based in Lichsteinstein, but it’s understood to be a Saudi Arabian-based family/individual.
