This week’s family/private investment office deals

Family Capital’s Deal of the Week involves two billionaires and their investment offices investing in a healthcare group. More details here. 

Unspecified Rounds

Marinya Capital, a Sydney based investment office owned by members of the Fairfax family, has invested in Sendle, a logistics group. Marinya was one of seven investors committing A$19 million to the Sydney-based group. 

Kinnevik, the Swedish investment group owned by the Stenbeck, Klingspor and von Horn families, has invested in Omio, a travel search engine. Kinnevik was among five investors committing $100 million to the Berlin-based group. 

KCK, the family investment group of US investor Nael Kassar, has invested in Aerin Medical, a health-tech company. KCK was one of three investors committing $48 million to the San Francisco-based group. 

Casdin Capital, an investment fund owned by Eli Casdin, and an investment office owned by UK billionaire Joe Lewis called Boxer Capital, have invested in Tango Therapeutics. Casdin and Boxer, which backed the Boston-based biotech group in an earlier round this year, committed $50 million with two other investors.  

Series A 

Great Road Holdings, a New York-based investment group owned by venture investor James Shifren, has invested in Cyware Labs, a network security company. Great Road was one of four investors committing $10 million to the New York City-based group.  

Hambrecht Healthcare Growth Venture Fund, a fund owned by entrepreneurial investment banker Bill Hambrecht, has invested in Castor, a biotech company. Hambrecht was one of three investors committing $12 million to the Amsterdam-based group. 

La Famiglia (The Family) – a venture group owned by a number of prominent European business families including the family owners connected to the giant appliance maker Miele; members of the Siemens family; the Viessmann family, behind the eponymous German family business; the family behind the Austrian luxury group Swarovski, and family owners of the Belgian chemical group, Solvay – has invested in Claimsforce, an insurance platform. La Famiglia was one of four investors committing €7 million to the German-based group. 

Cox Enterprises, a corporate venture group owned by the Cox publishing family, has invested in PadSplit. an affordable housing tech platform. Cox was one of six investors committing $4.3 million to the Atlanta-based group. 

Vulcan Capital, the Seattle-based investment group owned by Jody Allen, has invested in ICON, which is developing advanced construction technologies by using 3D printing robotics, software and advanced materials. Vulcan was one of ten investors committing $35 million to the Austin, Texas-based group. 

Series B 

F-Prime Capital, the Johnson family of Fidelity Investments venture fund, has backed Carrot Fertility, a platform that helps employers offer their workers fertility benefits. F-Prime Capital was one of six investors committing $24 million to the San Francisco-based group. 

Casa Verde Capital, an investment group backed by US rapper Snoop Dogg, has invested in Dutchie,  a cannabis ordering platform. Casa Verde was one of five investors committing $35 million to the Oregan-based group. 

Endo Investors, an investment group owned by Eric Edidin and linked to his private investment group Three B Holdings, has invested in Cecelia Health, a health-tech company. Endo led the $13 million round with one other investor; thee other investors participated in the round for the New York-based group.  

Vulcan Capital, the Seattle-based investment group owned by Jody Allen, has led a $120 million investment into Wildlife Studios, a gaming company. One other investor participated in the round for the Brazilian-based group.
