The Clermont Group, a Singapore-based private investment group owned by New Zealander Richard Chandler, has invested in UK fintech group OakNorth. Clermont was one of two investors (the other being the SoftBank Vision Fund) committing $440 million to OakNorth.
Emil Capital Partners, a US-based investment group linked to the Haub family, which own one of Germany’s biggest holding groups the Tengelmann Group, has invested in Kidfresh, a US group that creates all-natural kids’ meals. Emil invested alongside two other investors in a Series C round worth an undisclosed amount of money.
ICONIQ Capital, the venture/private equity investor linked to a number of Silicon Valley billionaires including Mark Zuckerberg, has invested in SendBird, a chat API platform. ICONIQ Capital led the Series B round worth $52 million with four other investors participating.
ClalTech, a venture group based in Tel Aviv, which is owned by Len Blavatnik, a Russian-born British-American businessman, investor, and philanthropist, has invested in US-based Verbit.ai, an AI technology platform. ClalTech was one of six investors in a Series A round worth $23 million.
Point72 Ventures, the venture group linked to hedge fund specialist Steve Cohen, has invested in Armorblox, a deep learning platform. Point72 Ventures was one of nine investors in a Series A round worth $16.5 million for the US-based group.
Astanor Ventures, a London-based principal investment group of Eric Archambeau, has invested in France-based Ynsect, which describes itself as an insects bio-refineries pioneer. Astanor led the Series C round worth $125 million with two other investors.
Sachin Bansal, who Family Capital wrote about earlier this month, has increased his holding in Indian mobile technology platform, Ola. Bansal has invested $92 million in Ola.
Equity Group Investments, Sam Zell’s investment group, has ploughed $8.5 million into Covera Health, a healthcare platform.
Abunayyan Holding, a holding and investment group owned by the Saudi Abunayyan family, has invested in e-commerce group LUNCH:ON. Abunayyan with three other investors committed $3 million to the Dubai startup.
LMK-industri, which is linked to LMK Ventures, owned by the Swedish Karlsson family, has invested in Bynk, Swedish fintech company. LMK invested €42 million with one other investor.
Mad’a Investment, a Saudi investment group owned by the Abdul Aziz Al Othaim family, has invested in BabySouk, an online premium store for babies. Mad’a Investment invested an undisclosed amount of money in the Dubai-based startup.
Rancilio Cube, the investment office of the Italian-based Rancilio family, has invested in UK fintech group Rapyd. Rancilio was one of five investors in a Series B round worth $40 million for the group.
Conzzeta, a Swiss holding group linked to the Swiss-German families – Schmidheiny, Auer and Spoerry – has invested in Embotech, an industrial automation group. Conzzeta was one of two investors committing CHF2.5 million.
Wheatsheaf Group, the investment arm of the Grosvenor family office, has acquired a 90% stake in Purfresh – a provider of specialised climate control technology designed to reduce food waste during shipping.
