Deal of the Week: Top China-based family office invests with institutions in biotech

Wu Capital, one of a few high profile China-based family offices, has invested alongside some big named institutions in US biotech company Akouos.

Fourteen investors together with Wu Capital invested $105 million in a Series B round into the Boston biotech group. Akouos is using cutting edge gene therapy to focus on restoring and preserving hearing.

Wu Capital is a Beijing-based family office owned by Yajan Wu, a prominent China-based real estate developer. It has been a very active investor in tech, with an emphasis on healthcare, education, consumer tech, pet care, and cryptocurrency platforms. It also has an office in the US.

Most China-based family offices keep a low profile, but Wu Capital is one of the exceptions.
