Private Equity

WndrCo, and Los Angeles-based investment group set up by Jeffrey Katzenberg, a film producer and media owner, has invested alongside Jack Ma’s Alibaba Group in Quibi. The Los Angeles-based media content for smartphones group, which was founded by Katzenberg, received $750 million from WndrCo and Alibaba. 

L Catterton, a private equity group with close links to Groupe Arnault, the family-owned holding company of the Arnaults, has invested in FYidoctors, an eye care company. L Catterton backed the Canadian company with an unspecified amount. 

Unspecified Rounds

Myriad, an investment group set up by Norwegian entrepreneur Kjetil Myrlid Aasen, has invested in Play Magnus, the official creator of the World Chess Champion, Magnus Carlsen’s, branded products. Myriad was one of three investors committing $13.5 million to the Oslo-based group. 

Seed

Cameleon Invest, an investment group owned by Paris-based financier François Simon, has invested in Rubypayeur, a digital debt collection platform. Chameleon led the round worth €1 million in the Paris-based startup; two other investors participated.   

Billionaire Mark Cuban, probably through his holding group Mark Cuban Companies, has invested in ChatableApps, which claims to be the world’s first neuroscience-led AI hearing aid app. Cuban seeded the London-based startup with an unspecified amount. 

Series A 

The Schwartzberg Companies, a private investment firm owned by New York-based investor Harris Schwartzberg, has invested in Move This World, an e-learning platform. Schwartzberg invested $500,000 in the New York City-based company after backing them in an earlier round. 

Vulcan Capital, the Paul Allen founded investment group now run by his sister Jody, has invested in Banzai, a cloud company that provides, discovers, and markets professional events. Vulcan was one of three investors committing $7 million to the Seattle-based group. 

Drive Capital, an investment group set up by Chris Oslen and Mark Kvamme, has invested in DisruptOps, a cloud management and cybersecurity platform based in Kansas City. Drive led the round, worth $9 million; one other investor participated.  

Series C

Oberndorf Enterprises, an investment group owned by San Francisco-based entrepreneur William Oberndorf, has invested in Human Interest, a fintech group. Oberndorf backed the San Francisco-based group with  $40 million in funding.
