Deal of the Week: Big-name principal investors back AI-powered data platform

A group of US investors, including family investment groups, have ploughed $6 million into San Francisco-based AI platform Node, which has developed technology to breakdown data silos between SaaS offerings.

Mark Cuban, probably through his holding group Mark Cuban Companies, led the round, after backing Node in early rounds. Joining Cuban in the latest round include GingerBread Capital,  an investment group owned by Linnea Conrad Roberts, who is married to George R. Roberts, a billionaire and one of the original partners of private equity group Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.

Also backing the round was Kenneth Goldman, president of Hillspire, Eric Schmidt’s family office. Goldman is likely to be investing on behalf of Hillspire, although that hasn’t been confirmed. Three institutional investors also backed the latest round.

Node has raised $45 million since it was set up in 2014.
