Deal of the Week: Cosmetics group gets backing from family capital

A Swiss-based cosmetics/biotech group has received SF18.7 million in funding from two family-based investors.

CUTISS has been backed in a Series B round by Giammaria Giuliani, who led the round and probably through the family’s investment office, Lugano-based GISEV Family Office, and Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss’s Wyss Foundation. Giuliani backed the Zurich-based group in an earlier round.

Founded in 2017, CUTISS has developed a bio-engineered technique to make large quantities of individually customized human skin grafts starting off from a very small piece of healthy patient’s skin.

Giammaria, along with his brother Germano Giuliani, are the fourth generation main shareholders of Giuliani, a Milan-based pharmaceutical company.
