This week’s family/private investment office deals

Real Estate

TE2 Group, the family office of Singapore based real estate tycoon Teo Tong Lim, has acquired a controlling stake in an office tower worth A$145 million in the Australian city of Melbourne. 

Unspecified Rounds

Everblue Management, the family office of hedge fund manager Eric Mindich, along with Bridge Builders Collaborative, an impact-led investment group owned by Austin Hearst of the Hearst publishing dynasty, have invested in TRU LUV, a Tronto-based AI group. The two were among four investors committing an undisclosed amount to the group. 

Belgium-based Group MC, an investment group owned by the Maesen family, together with Pamica, the investment office of Michel Akkermans, a serial Belgian entrepreneur, have invested in CHILI Publisher, an online editing software platform. The two joined two others in a round worth €3 million for the Belgian group. 

Seed

Crista Galli Ventures, a London-based investment group set up in April 2019 and backed by an unknown Danish family office, has invested in Ampersand Health, a biotech group. Crista Galli Ventures seeded the London-based startup with one other investor; the amount was undisclosed.

The Singh Family Trusts, an investment group owned by UK fashion entrepreneur Tom Singh and family, has invested in Frontier Markets, a solar power group. The Singh Family Trusts was one of five investors committing $2.3 million to the Indian-based startup. 

WndrCo, and Los Angeles-based investment group set up by Jeffrey Katzenberg, a film producer and media owner, has seeded Nomad Homes, a real estate tech platform. WndrCo invested with five other investors with a total commitment of $6 million for the Palo Alto-based startup. 

Bling Capital, an investment office owned by Californian-based entrepreneur Ben Ling, has seeded MonkeyLearn, a text analysis platform. Bling was one of seven investors committing $2.2 million to the San Francisco-based startup. 

Series B 

Presight Capital, set up last year in New York City, and backed by Swiss-based Christian Angermayer’s family office, Apeiron Investment Group, has invested in Penta, a Berlin-based fintech group. Presight with one other invested €4 million in the group.

Pagliuca Family Office, the family office of Boston-based private equity investor Steve Pagliuca, has invested in Vor Biopharma. Pagliuca Family Office was one of seven investors committing $110 million to the Boston-based group.  

Goodgrower, a private investment office owned by the Spanish Gallardo family, who made their money on the pharmaceutical sector, has invested in Kindbody, a New York City-based healthcare group. Goodgrower was one of eight investors committing $32 million to the group.
