Financing of a Public Company

Two Luxembourg-based holding and investment companies owned by the Swedish Lundin family have financed a Canadian gold and copper mining company, Filo Mining. Lorito Holdings and Zebra Holdings and Investments made the investment, along with a Norweigian investment bank; the money is designed to provide extra financing for the mining company. The two investment groups are owned by the widow of Adolf Henrik Lundin and members of their four children. Adolf Lundin was a billionaire oil and mining entrepreneur who died in 2006. The family control various investment/holding/trust groups based in Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Guernsey.  

Private Equity

BRV Capital, owned by venture investor John Malloy who also owns BlueRunVentures, has invested in Lineman, a Thailand-based food delivery platform. BRV invested $110 million in Lineman.

Unspecified Rounds

Fertitta Capital, the investment firm owned by Lorenzo Joseph Fertitta, has invested in Moonbug,  a global digital-first entertainment company for kids. Fertitta together with one other investor led the round worth $120 million for the London and Los Angeles-based group. 

Valor Capital, an investment group owned by Clifford Sobel, a former US ambassador to Brazil, has invested in MOLTEN, a digital media platform. Valor was one of three investors committing an unspecified amount to the Boston-based group. 

Seed

Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Randi Zuckerberg’s On Air Investments has invested in ANA Therapeutics, a biotech company developing a coronavirus vaccine. On Air was one of 11 investors seeding San Francisco-based ANA with $5 million of capital.

Omidyar Technology Ventures, an investment group owned by Pam & Pierre Omidyar, has invested in Drink Prime, an Indian company combining the best of IoT and water purification to help solve the problem of access to safe drinking water. Omidyar Tech was one of two companies committing INR215.6 million ($2.8 million) to Drink Prime. 

Series A 

EQT Ventures, the listed venture group backed by Sweden’s  Wallenberg family, has invested in Siilo, a messaging platform for healthcare workers. EQT was one of three investors committing €9.5 million to the Dutch-based group. 

Hermann Hauser, a Cambridge, UK-based tech investor originally from Austria, and probably through his investment office, Providence Investment Company, has invested in byrd, an e-commerce and logistics platform. Hauser was one of seven investors committing €5 million to the Berlin-based group. 

Revolution, Steve Case’s venture group, and Benvolio Group, an investment group owned by Lew Frankfort and his family, have invested in Immertec, a real-time virtual observation platform for remote surgical and medical training. The two investors joined two others in a round worth $6 million for the Tampa Bay company. 

Series B

Mousse Partners, an investment group owned by Charles Heilbronn, together with You & Mr Jones Brandtech Ventures, the venture investment arm of You & Mr Jones, a holding company owned by the ex-advertising executive David Jones,  have invested in AI Foundation, which is developing sustainable AI. The two investors along with three others committed $17 million to the US-based group.   

Series E 

Access Industries, the US-based holding and investment group owned by Len Blavatnik, has invested in Yotpo, an e-commerce marketing platform. Access was one of four investors committing $75 million to the New York City-based group. 

Series F 

Lupa Systems, the New York City-based investment group of James Murdoch, together with Baron Capital, owned by financier Ron Baron, have invested in Farmers Business Network, a farmer-to-farmer network developed to help farmers optimize their financial performances. The two joined 11 others in a round worth $250 million for the San Francisco-based group.
