Private Equity

D1 Capital Partners, an investment group founded by former hedge fund manager Daniel Sundheim, has invested in Torchy’s Tacos, an Austin, Texas-based chain of taco restaurants. D1 was one of five investors committing $400 million to the group. 

Seed

Saffelberg Investments, a Belgian-based family office owned by the Saffelberg family, has invested in BRIKL, a 3D e-commerce platform. Saffelberg seeded the Belgian startup with $2.4 million. 

Lynett Capital, a venture group owned by US investor Ben Lynett, has invested in Notaben, a crypto transaction/regulation platform. Lynett was one of three investors seeding the startup up with $1.8 million.  

Kayenne Ventures, a Singapore venture group believed to be owned by Harish Fabiani, an Indian entrepreneur/investor based in Spain, has invested in GeoIQ.io, a map-based intelligent platform. Kayenne was one of four investors committing INR24 million ($340,000) to the Indian-based startup. 

Series A 

Golfer Greg Norman, probably through his group The Greg Norman Company, has invested in TransfrVR, a New York City-based ed-tech platform. Norman was one of eight backers contributing $12 million to TransfrVR. 

Crista Galli Ventures, a recently founded venture group backed by a family office, has invested in Subtle Medical, a biotech group. Crista Galli was one of seven investors committing $12.2 million to the Menlo Park, California-based group. Based in London and Copenhagen, Crista Gailli is backed by IPQ Capital, the family office of Søren Fryland Møller, who sold the family’s stake in a big asset management group founded by his father Erik Møller. 

Wittington Ventures, a Toronto based investment group owned by the Weston family, has invested in Gatik, which is developing technology for autonomous vehicles. Wittington was one of seven investors committing $25 million to the Palo Alto-based group.  

Sawari Ventures, an investment group backed by members of the Sawari family, among the wealthiest Egyptians, has backed ExpandCart, an Arabic e-commerce platform. Sawari Ventures led the round worth $2.5 million for the Cario-based group; two other investors participated in the round. 

Skip Capital, the private investment office of the Australian tech billionaire Scott Farquhar, has invested in Morse Micro, a semiconductor group. Skip was one of five investors committing $13 million to the Sydney-based group.  

Koch Disruptive Technologies, Chase Koch’s investment group, and Arkin Holdings, an investment group owned by Israel-based Mori Arkin, have invested in Percepto,  a developer of autonomous drone technology. The two joined six other investors with a commitment of $45 million for the Israel-based group. Koch Disruptive led the round. 

Series B 

Eldridge, an investment group set up by billionaire Todd Boehly, has invested in CAIS, a fintech group. Eldridge committed $50 million to the New York City-based group. 

Breyer Capital, Jim Breyer’s investment fund, has invested in Zenbusiness, a business development platform. Breyer was one of nine investors committing $55 million to the Austin-based group. 

Bezos Expeditions, Jeff Bezos’ investment group, has invested in Chipper Cash, a fintech platform. Bezos was one of six investors committing $30 million to the San Francisco-based group.  

Prelude Ventures, Nat Simons’ investment group, has invested in Zapata Computing, a quantum computing group. Prelude was one of 11 investors committing $31 million to the Boston-based group. 

GingerBread Capital, an investment group owned by Linnea Conrad Roberts, who is married to George R. Roberts, a billionaire and one of the original partners of private equity group Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, has invested in Aclima, which delivers air quality data and insights to improve health. GingerBread was one of 13 backers committing $40 million to the San Francisco-based group.  

Thorney Investment, which is owned by Alex Waislitz, a Melbourne-based businessman, has backed Metigy, an AI and deep learning platform. Thorney was one of five investors committing A$20 million to the Australian-based group. 

Series C 

Apeiron Investment Group, the Malta-based family office of German Christian Angermayer, has invested in ATAI, a biotech group. Apeiron was one of seven investors committing $125 million to the Munich-based group.
