This week’s family/private investment office deals

Private Equity

Eldridge, an investment group set up by billionaire Todd Boehly, has backed PPRO, a payments platform. Eldridge was one of two investors committing $90 million to the London-based group. 

Unspecified Rounds

The Chernin Group, which represents the investment interests of Peter Chernin, has invested in Dapper Labs, a blockchain platform. Chernin Group was one of 47 investors committing $305 million to the Vancouver, Canada-based group. 

PremjiInvest, Azim Premji’s family office, has invested in FirstCry, an e-commerce platform. PremjiInvest was one of three investors committing $305 million to the Indian-based group. 

Jebsen Capital, the Hong Kong investment office owned by the Jebsen Group, which in turn is owned by the Jebsen and Jessen families, has invested in PlusDental, a digital dental group. Jebsen Capital was one of six investors committing €35 million to the Berlin-based group. 

Seed

Morningside Group, an investment group owned by the Chan family from Hong Kong, has invested in Nebula Microsystems, a tech startup. Morningside committed $15 million to the Texas-based startup. 

Titan Capital, a private investment office set up by Snapdeal (an Indian e-commerce platform) founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bans, has invested in Anar, a networking platform. Titan was one of two investors committing an undisclosed amount to the Indian-based startup. 

Ulysses Ventures, an investment office owned by Eric Gertler, a publishing entrepreneur who is also the nephew of Mort  Zuckerman, the billionaire owner of the New York Daily News, has invested in payosu, a fintech platform. Ulysses was one of nine investors committing £2.3 million to the London-based startup. 

CPT Capital, Jeremy Coller’s investment group, has seeded Bluu Bioscience, a biotech startup. CPT was one of five investors committing €7 million to the Berlin-based startup. 

HH Investments, a Singapore-based investment group owned by Maarten Hemmes, has invested in Stemly, a data group. HH Investments committed an undisclosed amount to the Singapore-based startup. 

Series A

RSL Investments, owned by Ronald S. Lauder of the Estée Lauder dynasty, has invested in Lifelink Services, a healthcare group. RSL was one of three investors committing $9.8 million to the  San Francisco-based group. 

GISEV Family Office, a Lugano-based family office for members of the Giuliani family, who control an eponymous Italian-based pharmaceutical company, has invested in Manual, a healthcare group. GISEV was one of six investors committing €25.5 million to the London-based group. 

Horizons Ventures, Li Ka-shing’s investment group, has invested in Ajaib, a fintech platform. Horizons was one of 10 investors committing $65 million to the Indonesian-based group. 

Access Biotechnology, part of Access Industries, Len Blavatnik investment group, has invested in Eliem Therapeutics, a biotech group. Access was one of three investors committing $80 million to the Boston-based group. 

F-Prime Capital, the Johnson family-backed venture group, has backed Leyden Labs, a biotech group. F-Prime was one of four investors committing €40 million to the Dutch group. 

AlTouq Group, a Saudi investment group owned by the Al Touq family, has invested in iKcon, a food delivery group. AlTouq Group was one of six investors committing $20 million to the Dubai-based group. 

Korys, the family investment group for the Belgium-based Colruyt family, has invested in  Sensorfact, an energy group. Korys was one of three investors committing €3.7 million to the Dutch group. 

Hamburg-based investment office TruVenturo, set up by German startup specialist Nils Regge, has invested  in INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, a biotech group. TruVenturo was one of six investors committing €14.3 million for the Spanish group.  

Series B

Tao Capital Partners, Nicholas Pritzker’s investment office, has invested in Apnimed, a biotech group. Tao was one of three committing $25 million to the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based group.

Series C 

The Chernin Group, which represents the investment interests of Peter Chernin, has invested in Cameo, an entertainments platform. Chernin Group was one of 15 investors committing $100 million to the Chicago-based group. 

Invus, a New York City-based investment business backed by Eric Wittouck, one of Belgium’s richest individuals, has invested in Omega Therapeutics, a biotech group. Invus was one of eight investors committing $126 million to the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based group. 

Bezos Expeditions, Jeff Bezos’ investment group, has invested in Pilot, a fintech platform. Bezos was one of four investors committing $100 million to the San Francisco-based group. 

Belgium-based Verlinvest, an investment group for the Spoelberch and de Mévius families, has invested in Everli, an e-commerce platform. Verlinvest was one of nine investors committing €85.2 million to the Italian group. 

Kinnevik, the Swedish investment group owned by the Stenbeck, Klingspor and von Horn families, has invested in Cityblock Health, a healthcare group. Kinnevik was one of ten investors committing $192 million to the Brooklyn, New York-based group. 

Series D 

Soros Fund Management, George Soros’ former hedge fund, now a family office, has invested in Lukka, a fintech/cryptocurrency platform. Soros Fund Management was one of three investors committing $53 million to the New York City-based group. 

Time Ventures, the investment office owned by billionaire Marc Benioff, has invested in Chainalysis, a blockchain platform. Time Ventures was one of four investors committing $100 million to the New York City-based group. 

Series F

Arena Holdings, a family office owned by US investor Feroz Dewan, has invested in ServiceTitan, a software group. Arena was one of 10 investors committing $500 million to the Californian group.
