Even 18 year-olds are setting up investment offices

The boom in the growth of family/principal offices is spreading to teenagers.

Emma Raducanu, who burst on the international sports star scene earlier this month after winning the US Open women’s tennis championship, has set up an investment group to handle her finances. Established last year when Emma was 17, Harbour 6 was registered in the UK city of Bristol with her as the sole director.

Of course, Raducanu is not exactly rich enough to employ her own team of full-time financial advisors and investment experts, but she might be one day. An exceptionally talented tennis player, Raducanu is also pretty savvy when it comes to economics and maths, having obtained top marks in her A levels in these subjects.

Raducanu also made a point of visiting the New York Stock Exchange after she won the US Open. And her parents work as currency traders in the City of London.

Perhaps Raducanu has looked at Serena Williams, one of tennis’ most successful investors with Serena Ventures, and believes she can create something similar with Harbour 6.

Raducanu has a long way to go before she emulates Serena’s sporting achievements and wealth, but there’s no doubt she has the ambition and skills to do so.

Barring serious injuries and mental fatigue, we may be hearing more about Harbour 6 in the future.
